Conduct Sheets:
These go home Friday to be viewed and signed by parents. Please return these the following week. This is an "Earned Time" requirement.
Homework:
This goes home the first day of a new week and is due the last day of the week. Completed homework packets are an "Earned Time" requirement.
Reading:
Students are expected to read at least 20 min. per school night. Please document minutes read on the back of your child's yellow homework cover, reading excerpt and sight word practice count. Remember, practice makes a great reader!
Flash Card Practice:
High frequency words have been sent home. Please practice these nightly. When students automatically know these words, they can work on words that will help comprehension. Comprehension is our end goal.
Coming home soon are math flash cards. Please practice these nightly. The key word is ten. Ten new words to learn, ten new flash cards to put to memory. When the ten are learned go to a new ten.
Spelling:
Students are to know how to read and spell all spelling words for a test at the end of the week. Students are responsible to learn how to write dictation sentences with correct spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.
Spelling activities to do weekly:
Write each word and sentence 4 times.
Tell a parent a sentence with each spelling word.
Quiz your child on his/her spelling words daily.

Your child has been assigned a book level and goal. Student's comprehension score is called their heart. Your students heart should be green or yellow. Red is not a passing color. How to make a heart green or yellow is discussed in class. Your child's point goal is their star. The goal is to have 100 in their star.
